So is the 4.0 watts/kg FTP based off the 95% of 20 minutes? Or the average power over the event? Or the user entered FTP?

I just got the UPGRADE for a 2.5 hour race where the average power was 3.7 watts/kg. My 95% of 20 min was right at 4.08 watts/kg, and 5 min was 5.0 w/kg. So I got the upgrade bump because of the '95% of 20 min'? The 1 min power is also red numbering - does that matter?

The 95% of 20min is used for FTP Cat Enforcement.
The attached image shows 2 thresholds which one can breach. You breached the second one when your FTP and 5 min power were above the limit.
Sticky,

Something new popped up last night in a race less than 20mins; https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=97607 how does the categorisation work if less than 20mins?; it appears to have factored down the WKG despite the averages being well over for the sub 20mins. Seems a bit of a loophole.

ZP Designated Cat upgrades do not apply if races last less than 20mins.

I too am struggling to get my head round this!! I've an FTP of 309W and at 72KG gives me a W/kg of 4.3W/Kg. This is improved from when I started racing on Zwift, where I was without doubt best placed in B. One race I got a little arrow next to the result, which appeared in A when I'd started in B. I assuemed that this meant that the result was counted as A as I breached the 95% 20min cut off of 4.0W/kg. I've now started racing in A and 95% 20 min W/kg usually between 4 - 4.1 mark and 20 min 4.3 - 4.4 W/kg. I've never gone above 5 W/Kg for 5 mins. Zwift Power assign category is B.

Which Category should I be racing in? Why does the Zwift power category remain at B if I'm breaching the 95% 20 min cut off?

Thanks for any explanation, and sorry if this is covered elsewhere!! :)

ZwiftPower Categorisation is not applied if less than 20mins. I believe the 95% column is estimated based on average power and the power curve.
